Three lovely movements varying in standard from Grade 5-8. Covers long phrases for breath control, fast scale passages for technique and tonality changes from bar to bar for beautiful colour changes. A composition worth exploring

I played all 3 movements as part of my HSC program in 2000. I loved playing these pieces, I had a piano accompianment and a double bass. These pieces have a wonderful flow and the phrasing is just that of a summers wind. I would recomend these pieces to anyone studying flute at aaround the grade 6 level.

Nice 3 pieces, Grades 5 - 7 - enjoyable even if not using them for examinations or even if you fancy something alittle bit easier but good to improve tone and build a better performance....recomended

Although these pieces are particularly challenging, technically they provide light relief and are enjoyable to play. There are three movements in this series, Summer music, Siesta and Games. I do not like the first when played unaccompanied, it sounds empty and nothing seems to gel or fit. However with the piano accompaniment it sounds much better. Siesta is the easiest of the three, currently a grade 5 piece, (others are about grade 7) but is a lovely piece. It really does feel like summer when played, each phrase seems like a sort of wave or ray of sunlight as you will understand when you play this. It is my favourite of the three as it is very smooth and even quite romantic in parts. Games, the last of the three is great fun to play (although I wouldn’t like to play the piano part - duplets against quavers). This also portrays its title and I feel it is more like running through a meadow or across the beach on a hot day, jumping and skipping about. The middle section is rather dull but the beginning and end make up for this. Overall, I enjoyed playing these and would recommend to anyone in between grades looking for repertoire and light relief.
