I have used this book extensively over the years with students I teach in schools and at home. Whilst no one book has 'everything' in it, the Hal Leonard Method Book One is certainly a great starting point. Taking you one string at a time through the learning process until you gain the basic knowledge needed for those 'camp fire song' moments
Nothing. It's simple, effective and does what it says on the box

              Musicroom Reviews

This is an excellent book for beginners of every age over about 9 years (given the vintage of some of the songs). As a teacher, I like its versatility in that it starts with individual notes in staff notation so it can lead into classical guitar, but chords are also introduced and basic strum techniques etc. as needed for rock and pop guitar. Book 2 is better for the latter than for classical.
