I bought Recorder From The Begining for a seven year with no previous. It is perfect, starting at the very beginning (how to hold a recorder) and introducing all the simple music concepts required to have her playing tunes in no time. Perfect starter book.

Really good for basic music. but was hoping for some well known tunes (nursery rhymes etc) that my son would have recognised,

I bought this book to take a KS2 recorder club. It works in a step-by-step way with many pieces based on each note (starting with B) and progresses slowly from note to note. Book includes words underneath the stave to help children with the rhythm which is very useful. Would definitely recommend to other teachers/beginner recorder players.

This book is an excellent beginners book. The text is clear and within the first lesson the pupil can play a tune and do a 'performance. Giving Great confidence. I am using this book to teach seven year old

Excellent self-explanatory introduction to learning the recorder suitable for 8-11 age range. Goes a bit fast for many younger children. Introduces notes in following order: B A G E D then high C. Some of the pieces at the end are quite complex.
